Herb Ryman Disney Legend at the Disney Legends Plaza

Herb Ryman (Imagineering)
Inducted 1990

In 1953, Walt Disney asked Herb Ryman to sketch an idea for an amusement park that would appeal to both children and adults. Over a single weekend, Herb took a small carbon pencil and illustrated Walt’s dreams on paper. Within two years, those dreams were transformed into reality and Disneyland became the first theme park of its kind in the world.

Herb had an uncanny ability to intuit Walt’s ideas into drawings. Perhaps, because, like Walt, he was a child at heart. Marty Sklar, president of Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) once said, "Herbie was like our own little Tinker Bell at WDI. He was always sprinkling pixie dust on everyone and he never grew up. He had a tremendous curiosity for everything and everybody."

Born June 28, 1910, in Vernon, Illinois, Herbert Dickens Ryman graduated from Chicago Art Institute, with honors, before moving to Hollywood in 1932. He worked as a storyboard illustrator at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studio on such classics as "Mutiny on the Bounty," "David Copperfield," and "The Good Earth." The latter film, about China, inspired Herb to take a year off and travel the world, in 1937, recording his impressions in a sketchbook.

The next year, back in Los Angeles, Herb met Walt Disney for the first time at a gallery exhibit of his work. Walt was so impressed with the paintings on display that he invited Herb to join The Walt Disney Studios. While Herb went on to serve as an art director for such feature-length animated classics as "Fantasia" and "Dumbo," Disneyland became the centerpiece of his Disney career. Among his contributions were designs for Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle and New Orleans Square. In 1988, his 1964 painting of New Orleans Square was selected by the State Department for display at the U.S. Embassy in Paris. Herb also contributed concepts for the Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, and for attractions featured at the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, including Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln.

A prolific artist outside of Disney, Herb produced watercolors, oil paintings, acrylics and charcoal sketches, which were collected by such people as Mrs. William Guggenheim, Cecil B. DeMille, and John and Lionel Barrymore.

Herb retired in 1971, although he returned a few years later, as a full-time consultant sketching numerous conceptual drawings for EPCOT, including the American Adventure and the China pavilion. He also developed the popular Hall of Presidents at Walt Disney World and the Meet the World attraction at Tokyo Disneyland.

On February 10, 1989, Herb Ryman died in Los Angeles, while working on ideas for Disneyland Paris, including a European version of Main Street, U.S.A.

Body Odor Herbs -

Sweating is a normal condition that occurs when the temperature inside the body gets increased; as a result unwanted substances are thrown out in the form of sweat. The body produces sweat to cool the body system in such hot conditions. Sweating mostly occurs when there is stress and anxiety in the mind which gets reflected in the form of sweat from the body. Sweating is a necessary function which cannot be ignored or stopped from happening.

If you find yourself sweating too much one good way is to get an alcohol and apply them on your skin. Alcohols are known to fight bacteria and for cleaning wounds but most of them have cooling effects as well. Experts say alcohol tightens the skin pores and prevents sweat for a period of time. However this should only be done occasionally because frequent use of alcohol tends to leave the skin dry and may at times lead to irritation or some allergic reactions.

Sweating problems can cause you to spend more on essentials like soaps antiperspirant and creams. This condition may require specialty products to keep your sweat glands under control.

The approach to treating excessive sweating generally proceeds as follows: Surgery — cervical sympathectomy as a last resort.

The process of sweating is controlled by the Sympathetic Nervous System. This involuntary nervous system maintains the five million or so sweat glands throughout the body. In fact about two-thirds of our body’s sweat glands are located in the hands alone. The answer to the problem of hyperhidrosis lies within these nerves. Doctors have found that ‘supercharged’ nerves cause excessive sweating.

Hyperhidrosis in the ‘plantar’ form is usually treated with botulinum toxin type A injections. Treatments include surgery and radiotherapy. This condition is characterized by excessive sweating that occurs in up to 1% of the population. Hyperhidrosis sufferers are prevented from wearing certain fabrics and colors because the sweat causes staining and rotting of the clothing.

How to Stop Facial Sweating In 3 Easy Steps

How to Stop Facial Sweating In 3 Easy Steps

Facial sweating happens due to a rush of blood to the cheeks due to anxiety or embarrassment or other physiological symptoms because these activate the sympathetic nervous system. When it comes to the medical conditions underlying it, they could be- cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, imbalances of hormones etc.

Facial sweating is very much related to facial blushing. Facial sweating either comes along with it follows closely. Facial blushing can occur due two reasons

• Psychological- people often feel awkward or embarrassed in certain social situations- if someone criticized them or spilled out a secret etc. then they get facial blushing.

• Physiological- vasodilatation could happen all of a sudden, resulting in excess of blood flow in regions where there is no immediate need of extra blood. This results in reddening of the face, when blood rushes there. It could happen with the ears, neck etc too.

Medications and drugs for beta blocking etc are available as a cure to facial sweating but they are suggested to be used only when prescribed by a doctor since they generally have some undesirable negative side effects.

In case of the injections like Botox, it can be very painful a process and the ETS surgery review indicates that if the sweat glands of the head are suppressed the other sweat glands of the body would start sweating more profusely.

There are some easy home remedies that could be promptly availed-

• Water- this element is the best cure of many diseases so is it for hyperhidrosis, the medical name for facial sweating. Drinking plenty of water can help the facial sweating by keeping our body hydrated and detoxified, which will in turn reduce sweating.8 to 12 glasses of water or roughly at least 2-3 liters of water in a day should be of some relief.

• Food- changes in eating pattern may bring about changes in the excessive head sweating. Certain foods are meant to increase sweating. Coffee and tea contain caffeine which triggers the sympathetic nervous system to increase volumes of sweat. This should be replaced by herbal tea, fruit juices, fresh tomato juice, buttermilk etc. Vegetarian food keeps the body temperatures cool. Meat intake increases body temperature leading to more sweat. Vegetables like onions, asparagus, broccoli etc should also be avoided since they make your sweat smellier.

• Herbs- some herbs can be helpful in shooting up body heat and metabolism rate like- yohimbe, ginseng and ephedra etc. Some herbs serve as natural cure to excessive sweating. A right combination of different herbs can help reduce sweating substantially. Osha herb is one of the, it is believed to discard toxins from the body, relax muscles and helps in respiration. And this leads to reduction in sweating. Astragalus is an herb that is responsible for maintaining a balance in the sweat response. Rehmannia is the herb that cools your body. Schizonepeta lowers body temperature during fever and brings down sweating. Tea tree oil helps reduce sweating too.

The answer to how to stop facial sweating has been tried to be enumerated in the above paragraphs.

These tips are obviously only the tip of the iceberg. Find more tips on how to make some easy lifestyle changes at http://www.facialhyperhidrosis.net so you can stop your facial sweating naturally in no time!
