Doctors Health Press Supports Study Showing Joint Pain Could Be Linked to Sleeping Problems

Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 26, 2011

The Doctors Health Press, a publisher of various natural health newsletters, books and reports, including the popular online Doctors Health Press e-Bulletin, supports a recent clinical study that has found an alarming link between sleep problems and an increased risk for joint pain.

As reported in the Doctors Health Press e-Bulletin on Friday, November 18, 2011, (http://www.doctorshealthpress.com/anti-aging/your-joint-pain-could-be-caused-by-your-sleep-problems) the study, performed on women, showed a stronger link in middle-aged and older women. Results were published in Arthritis & Rheumatism.

Experts estimate that fibromyalgia — a chronic musculoskeletal pain syndrome — affects more than five million Americans. Studies have shown it typically strikes in middle age, and 90% of patients are women. While previous research has found that insomnia, nighttime waking, and fatigue are symptoms in patients with fibromyalgia, it was unknown if sleep issues were actually helping cause fibromyalgia.

Researchers from Norway led the investigation, by scrutinizing a large health study. They selected 12,350 women who were free of musculoskeletal pain and movement disorders for the current study.

The findings were clear: a strong association exists between sleep disturbance and fibromyalgia risk in adult women. Women who often reported sleep problems had a greater risk of fibromyalgia than those who never experienced sleep problems.

At follow-up, 327 women had developed fibromyalgia. This is an incidence proportion of 2.6% during 10 years. The adjusted relative risk for women who reported having sleep problems “often” or “always” was 5.41 among women over 45 years of age. The researchers believe that more studies are needed to investigate whether early detection and treatment of sleep disturbance reduces the risk of fibromyalgia in women.

Understanding and Dealing with Difficult Problems and Events? No Pain, No Gain

Understanding and Dealing with Difficult Problems and Events? No Pain, No Gain

Have you ever questioned why you went through a difficult situation in your life? Most of us consider that such events are bad luck. However, I would like to offer an alternative approach to understanding obstacles.

To keep your physical body in shape, what have you found most beneficial? Do you work out with weights? The resistance of the weight causes your muscles to build, making you more fit, does it not? In addition, have you discovered the process to be hard and painful? The catchphrase, “No pain, no gain” is an exercise motto that describes the process of working out and experiencing muscle aches repeatedly in order to gain muscle.

Could you apply the same analogy for maintaining your spiritual being? I will use my life as an example. I endured a great deal during my life, including a childhood rape, inappropriate sexual contact from an alcoholic father, growing up in a dysfunctional family, being stalked and pursued by others and dealing with numerous debilitating illnesses. To tell you the truth, it was not, by any means fun. In fact, it was downright painful. However, even though I went through a lot of suffering, I did survive and eventually, grew. In weight-lifting terms, without my pain, there was no gain.

Many people, looking at my life from the outside, have stated to me that they think the events in my life were so horrific that they could not believe that I could write about my experiences. However, despite other’s concern, I have indeed written about my experiences and the healing from them. Why would I do this? It is because I have grown to a deeper appreciation of those trials. Had it not been for those challenges, I would not have the opportunity to learn that a person could not only survive such adversity, but can also be happy despite such events. In addition, because of those tribulations, my spiritual being has been enhanced, as I have come to rely on the spirit more fully, in the form of heightened intuition.

Since I am happy, I feel it is appropriate to share my story with others in similar situations. Had my life been different, with no adversity, I would not be able to reveal to others my healing from such hardships. Without the trying times I went through, I would not be where I am at today. Therefore, the ‘No pain, no gain’ philosophy applies to my spiritual well-being, as difficulties in my life were necessary for my spiritual ascension. More importantly, by communicating my story, I have been allowed a chance to help others with their own spiritual climb.

Symptoms Of Thyroid Problems

Symptoms Of Thyroid Problems

The not so familiar term, Hypothyroidism is basically characterized by bouts of depression, a very depressing powerlessness to free oneself from weight issues, very sweet urges and the most common symptom called fatigue. One other very important factor that currently largely contributes to the above mentioned symptoms is your thyroid. And this could be necessitated once your doctor overlooked testing your thyroid for what’s called autoimmune thyroid disease.

This would be the prudent thing to do taking into consideration that the Hashimoto’s autoimmune thyroid is the major cause of Hypothyroidism. The way the autoimmune thyroid works is to generate destructive antibodies that particularly kill the thyroid glands cells, consequently leading to Hypothyroidism.

Now above the Hashimoto thyroiditis we also have a further cause of Hypothyroidism which pegged on the many “treatments.” The moment you go to a surgeon to help you with your thyroid menace, the surgeons will be forced to get rid of some parts of the thyroid glands which by extension, you may be left with very few cells in your thyroid glands to protect you in case of further attacks. For those who really get lucky the doctor may just get rid of a nodule at the glands and everything will be well, but sooner than later, as the problems persist the glands may never keep up with expectations.

The number of treatments available has always met with success and in almost equal measure, failure. Natural remedies by use of herbs are some treatments being bandied about especially among herbalists. The other common treatment is via radioactive iodine therapy which apart from preventing any signs of goiter also keeps at bay hyperthyroid disease.

The hyperthyroid condition is characterized by too much hormone in the thyroid glands as opposed to the Hypothyroid where it is too little hormones produced. The problems with the natural remedies have also bee pegged on the fact that they are yet to be fully and comprehensively scientifically proven and most doctors would not prescribe them to treat the thyroid dysfunction.

The pituitary glands also play a major role in the Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroid menace because it is biologically charged with the task of giving the body enough thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH); any lack or excess of this cause the low metabolism higher metabolism.

To help curb all the Hypothyroidism symptoms another way to excel in thyroid health is by the means of Thyromine. The remedy is simply a natural supplement geared towards enacting and in fact reversing all the Hypothyroidism symptoms. Many people suffering from the thyroid dysfunction in their ardent seeking of a remedy somehow always end up on Thyromine.

Undoubtedly, therefore, from the medical field and the larger scientific realms, the means to curb Hypothyroidism have always seemed far yet so near. But with all the remedies to get the best treatment still, the task ahead appears difficult and will demand astute medical research attention. Getting rid of depression, fatigue, low libido among the other known symptoms will be the ultimate challenge for the medics to control once and for all Hypothyroidism.

Dissolve Destructive Behavioral Problems Caused by Trauma?Practice 21-day Rule to Break a Habit and End Pain

Dissolve Destructive Behavioral Problems Caused by Trauma?Practice 21-day Rule to Break a Habit and End Pain

Have you experienced pain in your life? As a result, have you fallen into destructive behaviors of anger, depression, guilt or shame? Is there an easy way to end pain and any associated emotional responses? What is one such practical solution?

The physical body operates on impulses received from the brain. According to scientific research, the brain is similar to the electric circuitry in your home. There are lines, or pathways, on which the current runs and connects to other lines, providing great sources of energy, and in turn, lighting up different areas of the home. In the human body, these pathways ‘light up’ different areas of the body, allowing them to operate.

Scientists have also determined that the more one feels and focuses on a thought, the stronger and more defined these pathways become in the brain. In fact, it takes 21 days of repeated thought patterns, without interruption to stabilize these conduits. In effect, if you focus on something for 21 straight days, it becomes a habit, as you etch new connectors into the circuitry of your brain.

When you experience emotional or physical trauma, damage can occur to the connectors already inside your brain. That distress can effectively cut the free-flowing constructive pathways in your brain. Therefore, the pain may have diminished your previous happiness and joy. Furthermore, you may begin to dwell on destructive thoughts of sadness, anger, and guilt instead of feeling constructive, happy thoughts.

As shown, if you think you are in pain and are angry, sad, or guilty for 21 days or longer, then you retrace a new connector, forming a habit. However, the new link made up of these destructive emotions will not generate constructive emotions, but will only further exacerbate your pain.

What is the answer to change the pattern and break a bad habit? Could it be a choice to work at changing the pattern, similar to dieting to lose weight? With continued effort, it is possible to see effective results using the scientific method of the 21-day rule for forming a habit. Therefore, might it be beneficial for you to redirect your energy, thoughts and feelings to happy thoughts to enjoy a joyful life again?

Hypothyroidism – Creating Metabolism Problems

Hypothyroidism – Creating Metabolism Problems

Hypothyroidism is a condition under which production of thyroid hormone is far less than usual. The purpose of thyroid hormone is to focus on the body’s metabolism and when that is hit, it results in slow metabolism. Slow metabolism affects the growth, development and many cellular processes which can have adverse effect on your body. Many people are victims to this disease, women in general bear the brunt most of the times. The increasing age is another reason to be affected by this disease. In early stages of hypothyroidism, there are hardly any symptoms to detect it early on. When left untreated it can cause many health problems including obesity, joint pain, infertility and heart disease.

One of the common reasons for hypothyroidism is due to problems with the thyroid gland. On other occasion it happens due to some problem in the brain or pituitary gland. Other causes for this problems is Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, increased amount of drugs, treatment of hyperthyroidism, treatment for thyroid tumors, iodine deficiency, family history, old age, radiation and postpartum thyroiditis.

]]>

Symptoms which detect hypothyroidism are fatigue, exhaustion, tiredness, weight gain, dry or coarse hair, hair loss, muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches, constipation, depression, irritability, lapse of memory, sensitivity towards cold, puffy face, abnormal menstrual cycles and decreased libido. Many of these symptoms go unnoticed but as you get older these become a real threat.

Natural Treatments

Kanchanara – Bauhinia veriegata (purple mountain ebony) is mainly useful for functioning of thyroid. Other herbs like jatamansi, brahmi guggulu, shilajita, gokshura, punarnava are some of the other useful herbs.

You can try this home remedy which may help your problem. Make a fine paste of vegetable jalakumbhi (Pistia Straticies) to be applied over your neck to reduce the swelling.

Coconut oil has fatty acid chains which may help to improve your metabolism.

Yoga

You can try yoga which has been effective even before the existence of medical science. Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) can be a very suitable asana to help your thyroid gland. The pressure applied on the gland provides the necessary boost to the thyroid gland. Once you have done sarvangasana you should perform matsyasana, also beneficial to improve your thyroid gland.

These asanas should not be practiced if you are suffering from severe thyroitoxicosis or enlarged goiter. You can include Surya Namskara, Pavamuktasana to help you with this problem. One of the best ways to deal with thyroid problems is to practice Ujjayi Pranayama.

Men’s Hair Loss – 5 Most Common Hair Problems Faced by Men!

Men’s Hair Loss – 5 Most Common Hair Problems Faced by Men!

Hair loss is one of the most common physiological problems faced by men. These days everybody is losing hair; you, me, everybody! There are various causes of hair loss – illness, stress, hormonal changes, medicines, excessive sebum or dirt. We discuss the most common hair problems and hair loss causes suffered by men.

Hair Loss through Normal Course of Events

Hair loss also occurs naturally on a daily basis. It is estimated, that a normal, healthy person looses around 100 hairs per day. One of the reasons for this is the lifespan of a single hair, which is usually around 4.5 years. Your hair then falls off, which then is replaced by a new strand of hair within a 6 month period.

If you constantly style your hair, using shampoos and hair products, brushing, or blow drying etc, then rest assured, quite a few hair fall out during these processes. Another important reason for normal hair loss is the age of a person. Men tend to lose hair at a faster rate as they grow older.

]]>

Hair Loss through Hereditary Reasons

Genetic hair loss is one of the more common hair loss problems. In such a case, it is not the fact that an excessive amount of hair falls out, but it is the insufficient amount of hair growing back that is the problem. Factors like gender, age, and hormones also affect hereditary baldness.

Hair Loss through Stress

An excess of physical or emotional stress, will lead to hair loss. Herein, you might suffer from a problem wherein, your hair stops growing, lying dormant and then growing back again, or also suffer from a condition in which your white blood cells will attack your hair follicles.

Hair Loss through Illness

There are times when you might lose hair, if you are suffering from an illness. This can be of the chronic variety or otherwise. Virtually any illness has the capability of triggering loss. These illnesses could be malnutrition, cancer, thyroid disorders, zinc deficiency, cellulites, etc

Male Pattern Baldness

Increased sensitivity to androgens causes androgenic alopecia or male pattern baldness. This condition is passed from one generation to another. It is another common hair problem affecting men.

If you have thinning hair or are suffering from chronic hair loss, then its best that you get in touch with an expert immediately. You must try and arrest or control your hair fall before you lose a large amount of hair.

To find out the reasons and what causes hair loss, a microscopic hair analysis can identify a wide range of problems as well as make recommendations for hair loss treatment.

Former IBM executive and hair products entreprenuer, Tim Faber has acquired, started or invested in over eight companies since 1987 and has been involved in numerous boards and charities, including the SC Philharmonic.
