Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been around for more than 2000 years and is effective at treating several skin conditions including acne. Acne is a skin condition that affects approximately 60% of the American population. Although the cause of acne is unknown, genetic predisposition and hormonal changes are believed to be related to the cause of acne skin conditions. Acne is more prevalent in males and can be aggravated by sweating, oral contraceptives, poor skin hygiene, cosmetics, face creams, exercise, and lack of sunlight. Traditional Chinese philosophy believes that an imbalance in the body, mind or spirit can cause physical symptoms of disease. The TCM believes that an excess of internal heat and dampness causes acne and the symptoms of acne. To alleviate acne you must clear the heat and drain the dampness from the body.
Heat can be caused by different sources such as our over consumption of stimulating foods, hormonal changes, physical activity, inability for blood to clean toxins, agitated thoughts, hot weather, or imbalance of qi. Heat can appear as inflammation, over stimulation, and hyperactivity and is reflected on the skin through rashes, pimples, infections, and redness. Dampness is excess water in the tissues of the body. Dampness can be caused by water accumulation in the digestive tract, excess oil, fatty, cold or raw foods, irregular eating habits, insufficient sweating, damp environment, and insufficient heat. Bacteria, fungus and viruses thrive in excessively damp environments even in the body. Dampness can be reflected through the skin as swelling, cysts, pimples, pus, and fluid discharge.

A traditional Chinese herbalist should be consulted when determining which Chinese herbal supplements to take to clear up your acne. Although there are minimal side effects, you will not see the results you want by indulging in every Chinese herb on the market. Specific concoctions of herbs will work for certain people. An herbalist will determine which concoction of herbs is right for each individual person and their specific symptoms. TCM can use leaves, flowers, fruit, bark, minerals and roots from plants in their acne treatments. There are several different ways to take herbs in decoctions or teas, powders, tinctures, pills, syrups, and plasters. Here are some specific herbs that have been used in TCM for thousands of years to treat acne. If you experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or a skin rash after taking herbal supplements, stop taking them immediately and consult your herbalist.

Ginger ? One of the Most Commonly Recognized Chinese Herbs
Ginger ? One of the Most Commonly Recognized Chinese Herbs
When people speak of exotic Chinese Herbs, we usually may not think of the common cooking ingredient called ginger as being one of these Chinese Herbs – but yes, it is. What we use as a cooking ingredient would be the so-called edible root of the plant which in reality is not a root but rather a rhizome. Though ginger is acknowledged to have its roots in China, this is one of the most commonly recognized Chinese Herbs around because ginger is now also cultivated widely in other Asian countries, India, West Africa, and even in the Caribbean.
The ginger plant itself has the scientific name of Zingiber officinale. The ginger rhizome is usually called the ginger root, and many cooks are familiar with the aroma of this rhizome because of the essential oils that contribute to its distinctive scent. Among Chinese Herbs, ginger can be said to have the unique capacity to stimulate saliva production in those who consume or even just taste it.
Chinese Herbs are often used in Chinese cuisine not just as a flavoring but also because of their reputed benefits to the body. You may find Chinese Herbs like ginger often employed in meat dishes and seafood dishes because of ginger can complement the flavor of the meat or seafood well. Among the Chinese Herbs, ginger can either be used as an extract (or when the juice is squeezed from the ginger root); as ginger powder for breads; as fresh ginger for cooking; and to add to certain recipes like gingerbread. You might be surprised to that Chinese Herbs like ginger can even be incorporated into popular drinks like ginger ale and ginger beer.
Western cuisine and medical treatment has already absorbed the practice of using some Chinese Herbs like ginger to make snacks (such as ginger snaps); or to spice up the Western-style hot tea or coffee. Though technically considered one of the main Chinese Herbs, ginger also goes by a variety of other names too because it is now widely cultivated in many other countries and widely used in their cuisine as well.
Chinese Herbs are often used for medical purposes and ginger is no exception to this rule. One reason Chinese Herbs are integrated as an ingredient of some medical preparations is to alter the taste of the product to make it more palatable to the patient consuming the medical product. Ginger is known to be effective against colic, dyspepsia and the common cold (which is why you might be advised to drink ginger powder as a tea.) However, as with all Chinese Herbs, you need to be cautious about ingesting ginger in combination with certain pharmaceutical products (particularly warfarin) because ginger may contraindicate with these medicine. Chinese Herbs like ginger may also produce health results that are far from those desired – for instance, ginger should never be taken by gallstone patients since ginger is known to make the gallbladder secrete bile instead. This counters the commonly held belief that Chinese Herbs may automatically be beneficial to your health.

The Role of Chinese Herbs in Chinese Cooking and Traditional Chinese Medicine
The Role of Chinese Herbs in Chinese Cooking and Traditional Chinese Medicine
When we speak of Chinese herbs, we are technically referring to herbs sourced straight from China. Chinese herbs are commonly employed for Chinese cooking but may also have medicinal properties that make them ideal to use in Traditional Chinese Medicine too. There are a mind-boggling number of the known Chinese herbs (more than three hundred, at last count) which have reputedly been used in various ways for around 2000 years or so.
Generally, Chinese herbs might either be boiled as a hot tea for at least an hour for the patient to sip, or the Chinese herbs could be incorporated into honey bound pills. The most common purpose for using Chinese herbs is for their health benefits, since these Chinese herbs can reportedly make the human body stronger when the herbs are consumed. Chinese herbs which have developed a strong following are Ginseng, salvia, rhubarb, rehmannia, peony, ephedra sinica, licorice, hoelen, ginger, coptis, cinnamon bark, cinnamon, bupleurum, atractylodes, astragalus, and Dong Quai. Among this list of commonly used Chinese herbs, the one which many might be very familiar with is Ginseng (because of the many commercial products that claim to use this herb as an ingredient.) Much of the Ginseng being used for these commercial products would be made up of the Red Panax ginseng variety which is more affordable than the more highly prized Wild Ginseng variety.
Though not technically part of the Chinese herbs category, there is what is known as American ginseng too, which was employed by Native Americans for their own type of health care treatments.
Are Chinese herbs safe to use? Those who strongly believe in Traditional Chinese Medicine would probably be very convinced that Chinese herbs are very effective, but anyone who is trying out Chinese herbs for the first time (as part of Chinese cuisine or as part of a Traditional Chinese Medicine program of treatment) should always practice caution before ingesting any Chinese herbs. This is because the Chinese herbs that might work for one person might not necessarily work for another. More alarming is the prospect that certain Chinese herbs might even be dangerous for some individuals to use, especially if they happen to be allergic to those Chinese herbs, or if the person is on some commercial drug preparation that might contraindicate with some Chinese herbs. If you are planning to use Traditional Chinese Medicine to complement your conventional medical treatment program, you should always consult your physician first before taking any Chinese herbs on your own. This is for your own protection. Though admittedly various Chinese herbs (like ginger which even Westerners are very familiar with in these modern times) are probably safe to consume on a regular basis, many Chinese herbs are unfamiliar to Western medical practitioners so it is prudent to incorporate such Chinese herbs into your diet and medical treatment slowly – maybe even one at a time – to observe the effects on your body.

Night Sweats and Chinese Herbs
Night Sweats and Chinese Herbs
Night Sweats are a common Menopause Symptom. Many Menopausal women experience Sweating with their Hot Flashes throughout the day. When it happens at night, though, it’s a problem in itself. It can mean ruined sleep. Women typically wake up at 2-3 in the morning, soaked and burning. What a Drag!
One of the first is make sure you are DRINKING enough…fluids. That means water, juice, herb teas, etc. That means Two liters a day. Many women tell me they don’t drink at all after their morning coffee.
First, let’s look into how a Traditional Herbalist looks at Night Sweats.
Night Sweats in Chinese Medicine are understood to be Deep chronic Dehydration that has become inflamatory. TCM calls this “Yin Deficiency”. They don’t even address it as a Menopause Symptom. Yet, the TCM approach works to treat it!
TCM calls these herbs “Yin” Tonics. Ayurveda would describe them as nourishing “Kapha”. These herbs Hydrate, coat, and soothe parched, inflamed muccous membranes. Common herbs that do this are:
Marshmallow(Althea), Asparagus ROOT,
Great Ayurvedic herbs are Shatavari(Asparagus Racemosa), and Amla(Emblica Myrobalani).
Spirulina is a Super Nutrient, that energizes and nourishes cells. Take 3-4 500 mg. tablets daily and watch your energy soar! It’s an Incredible Fluid and Blood Builder. Spirulina is helpful for practically Any menopause symptom.
My favorite TCM herbs for this purpose are: Chinese Stellaria(YinChaiHu), Lycium Root(DiguPi), White Peony Rt.(BaiShao) and many others.
In addition to replacing the fluids, herbs that stop sweating are also good. Theses include:
WuWeZi(Schizandra seeds)
ShanZhuYu(Cornus berry)
FuXiaoMai(Wheat Grain)
TCM herbs are used together in formulas for best results. You can tincture any formula you see here and have a huge supply in a few weeks!
]]>
Personally, I Love Chinese Herbs when it comes to Efficient Night Sweat Relief.
Don’t worry you don’t have to know a thing about Chinese Herbs.
You can just print the formulas and take them to a Chinese Herb store. They are actually prescriptions! Some Chinese Herbal Pharmacies will make up capsules for you. Many will make up powders.
Or you can buy the actual “raw” herbs and MAKE your own Herbal Medicine tinctures!
Of course you can always order any Tincture Formula you see online from Ultimate Menopause Herbal Tinctures!
Also, very effective is to gently boil the “raw” herbs for 20 minutes and simply drink the strong “Decoction” several times a day. This is the traditional way, but I haven’t seen many people willing to put up with the hassle, bad smell or taste, for too long.
Here’s Two Great formulas for Night Sweats:
The first is for Night Sweats that are really bad, as well as dehydration.

Stop Painful Menstrual Cramps with Chinese Herbs
By: Chandan
Posted: Sep 19, 2009
An international nonprofit organization, known as the Cochrane Collaboration, studied the effectiveness of Chinese herbal medicine in relieving menstrual pain compared to western drugs. Their conclusion: “Chinese herbal medicine for primary dysmenorrhea roughly doubled pain relief and improvement in overall symptoms compared with conventional Western pharmaceuticals,” reported Xiaoshu Zhu.1
Here are a few common Chinese herbs used for painful menstrual cramps:
1. Dong Gui (Chinese Angelica or Angelica Sinensis)
Also known as the “female ginseng,” it is commonly used to regulate the menstrual cycle and relieve menstrual cramps. It also helps to relieve menopausal symptoms, reduce PMS and anemia and to re-establish a menstrual cycle after cessation of birth control pills. It is commonly sold as a single herb tea, bagged or loose. It is considered a king herb or premier herb in Chinese gynecological disease because of its ability to harmonize the blood in Chinese medicine. Dong Gui is also considered antispasmodic. The coumarin chemicals present in this herb may help dilate blood vessels and relax the smooth muscles of the uterus, thus relieving menstrual cramping.
2. Chuan Xiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma)
This herb is also a key medicinal herb for treating pain. It improves blood circulation and promotes the flow of “qi” or vital energy. Chinese women, dating back to the Song Dynasty, used to take this Chinese herb in the form of soup. The soup is called a Four Substance Decoction and includes three other herbs: angelica, red peony and Chinese foxglove. The soup and tea are still used today as a blood tonic to relieve PMS, stop menstrual pain and improve overall health, especially after giving birth.
3. Bai Shao (White Peony Root)
White Peony Root nourishes the blood and improves circulation. It is also used for a wide variety of gynecological problems. The peony root is considered a liver tonic in Chinese medicine. By strengthening the liver, it helps to increase the efficiency of protein and fat metabolism, thus inhibiting the excessive synthesis of prostaglandins that may cause an over-active uterus and endometrial pain.
4. Yi Mu Cao (Chinese Motherwort)
Leaves from this herb are used to treat menstrual problems. They have been shown to improve blood circulation and clear blood clots that occur in menstrual disorders and after childbirth. The leaves also promote diuresis and relieve edema. Studies on the alkaloid leonurine showed that this substance stimulates the uterus of rabbits, cats, dogs and guinea pigs.2

Chinese Herb Choices Beyond the Capsule:
5. Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis Rhizome)
There are two main functions of this Chinese herb: to strengthen blood circulation and to relieve pain. In conjunction with chuan xiong it is known to help both body aches and headaches. Corydalis is related to the opium poppy. Although only 1% in strength compared to opium, it is a very effective pain reliever. The active chemical constituent di- tetrahydropalmatine (THP) is a neuroactive alkaloid with analgesic action that relieves cramping pain.
Groups of Chinese herbs, also known as formulas, are more beneficial than single herb remedies because the herbs work synergistically for conditions such as menstrual cramps. The Cochran study also stated that: “The herbal remedies were also significantly better at relieving painful cramps and other symptoms than acupuncture or a hot water bottle, with overall promising findings… Chinese herbs overall, whether standardized or tailored, yielded better pain relief than conventional pharmaceutical therapies.”
Chinese herbal medicine can be a bit intimidating when you don’t know anything about these herbs, and the five herbs above are only a few of the herbs beneficial for menstrual cramps in the Chinese herbal encyclopedias. Asian pharmacies sell prescriptions of herbal teas and pills daily, and Asian cultures have used herbs successfully for hundreds of years. By replacing NSAIDs with Chinese herbs, women receive an additional benefit of avoiding the nasty NSAID3 side effects such as upset stomach, heartburn, ulcers and rashes, and liver damage, to name a few. Women don’t need to suffer month after month. You can use Chinese herb supplements to be pain free and PMS symptom free all month long.

Infertility Treatment Using Western and Chinese Herbs ? Effective Chinese Herbs That Can Cure infertility
Infertility Treatment Using Western and Chinese Herbs ? Effective Chinese Herbs That Can Cure infertility
These days, diseases are usually treated through the merge of traditional and modern methods. The same thing goes when it comes to curing infertility in women. But what is probably the most common approach to treating women who are experiencing difficulty in conceiving a child is an infertility treatment using Western and Chinese herbs.
While this may seem contradicting as herbs are not usually considered to be truly medicinal, it is fairly common to encounter infertility treatments that uses the best of both worlds. Chinese herbs are highly effective in treating scar tissue that blocks a woman’s fallopian tubes, as well as promote hormonal balance, among others.
In infertility treatment using Western and Chinese herbs, it’s common to encounter herbs including red raspberry leaf which actually helps prepare the uterus for pregnancy aside aiding in a baby’s skin and bone development. Others herb that are most commonly used in conception are jiao gu lan and shu di huang that improve sexual functions in both men and women. Rubber Tree Bark and Wild Lettuce, on the other hand, are usually given to pregnant women as these herbs are effective in preventing miscarriage.
Through infertility treatment using Western and Chinese herbs, a woman’s chance of getting pregnant increases as Chinese herbs can strengthen the body while a woman is undergoing infertility treatment using today’s modern methods including artificial insemination. Most doctors actually promote the use of Chinese methods alongside Western treatments as the complement each others strengths in helping a woman conceive.
Do you want to get pregnant within 3 weeks from now? If yes, then I recommend you use the tips and techniques recommended in this infertility cure guide: Pregnancy Miracle, to significantly increase your chances of conceiving and giving birth to a healthy kid.
