Menopause Herbs and Food Pattern for Change of Life

Menopause Herbs and Food Pattern for Change of Life

Menopause means the cessation of female monthly menstruation [period]. Menopause is an intermediary stage that takes place when a woman’s reproductive organs fail to produce eggs, causing her menstrual cycle to stop.

Menopause is medically defined as “no period [menstruation] for at least 12 months that is not due to any underlying medical condition”. Typically, menopause begins after the age of 40. There are exceptions with some women commencing menopause earlier in life. More info visits our website ayurvedicherbalcure.com.

It is advised that vegetables have to be strictly incorporated in your diet at this point of time. In addition, you could benefit from consuming fresh fruits rather than just drinking their juice. The idea here is that fresh fruits are composed of natural fibres that aid in improving your bowel movement and thus menopause bloating is taken care of. It is a good idea to go for starch rich food in the night.

Consuming the right food at this period will get rid of symptoms such as menopause spotting, vaginal dryness etc. However, menopause bleeding is something that needs immediate medical care. This menopause bleeding may sometimes indicate cancer.
Certain menopause herbs rich in dissolved minerals are good substitutes to regular tea, which can be used to provide menopause symptom relief.

A huge lot of proteins is also a must too. However, an enzyme supplement, Beano has to be taken which aids in the digestion of proteins. Milk is very important. Soy helps you a great deal. Avoid alcohol and sugar rich products. This avoids menopause bloating.

Herbs for Menopause, Herbal Remedies for Menopause Relief

Herbs for Menopause, Herbal Remedies for Menopause Relief

Menopause is the shutting down of child bearing capabilities of the woman, and as women go through menopause, their bodies do not produce sufficient amounts of the female hormones (estrogen and progesterone)

Many women have to undergo uncomfortable menopausal symptoms; some of them have used orthodox drugs all to no avail. But many herbal remedies have been known to relieve menopausal symptoms.

Here are some of the alternative (herbs) remedies for menopause:-

-Evening primrose: This plant can be used to treat hot flashes, breast pain and bladder symptoms because this plant seeds contain gamma-linolenic acid, which have been proven by medical experts as the best fatty acid suitable for human beings.

-Peppermint, thyme and rosemary: these herbs can be used for treating cold symptoms; it can be consumed by brewing them into tea and enjoying it with a spoonful of honey.

-St. Johns wort: it is found in to be very effective in treating depression in women (but not cases of severe depression). It cannot be used with anti-depression pills. It may also increase sensitivity of the skin to sunlight.

-Ginseng: this is the most popular herb used by women who are experiencing menopause. Although there are many types of ginseng – e.g. white and red, Siberian, American etc. they are all used for increasing/boosting the immune system functions and for relieving stress. The constant use of ginseng can help women improve their feeling of well-being. However, studies have shown that ginseng does not relieve hot flashes, which is a common occurrence with menopausal women.

-Don quai: this is a Chinese herb that is used to reduce hot flashes, but Don quai is also known to contain toxic substances that can thin the blood, which can cause excessive bleeding (if its user sustains a cut) and it can make the skin sensitive to sunlight.

-Wild and Mexican yam: Some people have claimed that wild and Mexican yam creams have helped them relieve menopausal symptoms but there are no studies or published reports that have backed up their claim. Although wild and Mexican yam contain certain hormones, but these hormones do not contain estrogen or progesterone.

-Valerian root: this herb has been used as a sedative but it is known to have side effects. The constant use of this herb has been known to cause heart problems and delirium!

-Soy: soy is a plant that contains estrogens. Soy beans are great for relieving menopausal symptoms such as night sweats and hot flashes. If soy beans are taken over long periods, it makes the bones stronger and it is good for managing cholesterol. Soy beans is quite safe when taken in dietary amounts, but too much consumption of soy beans can be risky for women who have a history of estrogen dependent breast cancer; because huge amounts of soy and isoflavone supplements could interact with estrogen which in turn is quite harmful to its user.

-Black cohosh: this herb is only helpful for short periods, it is very effective for treating hot flashes and night sweats for up to six months (or less). This herb will no longer work after six months of use.

5 Proven Herbs For Menopause – Do They Really Help?

You’ve heard there are natural herbs for menopause that can really help: Yet during a recent survey, most women could only name 2 or 3 at most. And most sites that feature information don’t seem to take into account one vital factor – whether or not the menopause symptom alleviating effects have been scientifically tested and proven.

So where’s the proof? Which herbs do help combat the effects of menopause? Which should you take?

The latter is a decision only you can make, based on your own personal symptoms, problems and concerns (not to mention allergies, too)! But it helps if you know the basics about each herb popularly used in supplements to alleviate menopause symptoms and side effects.

Here is some concrete information about five particularly effective herbs for menopause; what they are, how they work and what they do…

1. Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa, Cimicifuga racemosa)

What Is It? – Belonging to the buttercup family, this hardy perennial herb grows wild across North America.
Parts Used? – Rhizomes and roots.
Existence of Formal Studies? – Yes. Numerous. According to one performed by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, “black cohosh may be helpful in the short term (6 months or less) for women with vasomotor symptoms of menopause.”
Adverse Effects? – Adverse effects have been reported under rare circumstances, particularly where recommended dosage has been exceeded. Should never be combined with – or confused with – Blue Cohosh, a proven abortifactant.

2. Chasteberry (Vitex agnus castus)

What Is It? – Fruit of the Chaste tree. Inhibits prolactin release and binds to dopamine receptors.
Parts Used? – Fruit

Adverse Effects? – Can cause mild nausea and digestive irritation, so it is best used in enterically-coated capsules. (Reported by 7 women out of Schellenberg’s group of 178.).

3. Damiana (Turnera diffusa, Turnera aphrodisiaca)

What Is It? – South American shrub
Parts Used? – Leaves and stems

Answer by BrownBagParty.com
Avena Sativa, L-Arginine, Folic Acid, Niacin, Saw Palmetto in a base of Ginkgo Biloba. (found in Allurex, a wonderful product backed by years of double blind studies).

Mainly, Avena Sativa is what does it. All the above ingredients are natural and proven safe. They are potentially more potent when used together.

Of course, the AMOUNT you take will determine the affects. You should really consult a professional just in case.

L-Arginine is an amino acid that is sometimes in a cream form, like sexual excitement creams. People with herpies should use L-Arginine creams with caution and consult a Dr. prior to use.

Menopause Home Remedies and Exercise for Viropause or Andropause

Menopause Home Remedies and Exercise for Viropause or Andropause

Many women want to use natural menopause remedies but may not know where to start or which remedies to use. There be able to be big difference in philosophy among linear science-based up to date medicine and more holistic philosophies such as TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) or Ayurvedic medicine. Understanding these differences will make it easier to choose specific natural menopause remedies.

Home Remedies

Dong Quai

Dong Quai is a herb used in traditional Chinese medicine as a tonic for the female reproductive system. It is used by natural practitioners to increase blood flow, and thereby help relieve hot flashes and lubricate the vagina. Another great feature of Dong Quai is that it has properties that can also help ease menopausal rheumatism.

It is also rich in magnesium which can help to deepen sleep disturbed by night sweats. It has shown itself effective to many women, alleviating and reducing the symptoms of menopause. It also relieves some of the symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and acts as a general tonic for the female reproductive system.

Black Cohosh

Black Cohosh is probably the most well known herb that is used during the menopause years. Some doctors are now suggesting it for their patients who want more natural relief from menopausal symptoms. It helps to regulate estrogen and decrease luteinizing hormone to help alleviate these symptoms. Black Cohosh has been studied mostly in Germany, where it is used to treat hot flashes.

Experiments have shown that the herb has substances that bind to estrogen receptors in animal models and lower pituitary hormones in both animals and humans. It is among the few natural herbs for menopause that have shown a positive effect for the women undergoing this difficult stage in life. It will relieve hot flashes, night sweats, and mild mood changes.

WILD YAM

Wild yam is also an option, which can be found in many types of progesterone creams. For this, women experience fewer and less intense hot flashes, the number one complaint among menopausal women. Wild Yam extract is a very beneficial herb for women and works synergistically with progesterone USP, but don’t be fooled by cheap substitutes.

Red Clover

Red clover contains a hormone like substance and this has been known to help curb some menopause symptoms; red clover may also be beneficial for preventing osteoporosis due to its weak estrogenic effects.

Exercise

Exercise Is Exhausting

It’s true that if you’ve been leading a sedentary lifestyle and you do too much too soon, you’ll feel tired and achy. This means you’re overdoing it. Listen to your body and make corrections. The idea is to start slowly, be consistent, and your energy levels will increase as your effort increases.

This also holds true for women who have been very active all their lives. An increase in effort and energy expenditure needs to happen over time, not all at once. You do have to spend energy to get energy, so see exhaustion as a warning signal.

Exercise Is Boring

To reap the long term benefits of exercise, it is essential to do what you enjoy! Think beyond walking, jogging or more structured routines, and find what works for you. Spend the evening square dancing and you’ll have walked five miles.

If what you’ve chosen for staying active does get dull, mix it up. If you usually take a bike ride or a walk alone, invite some friends to join you. Change the locations of your exercise sessions. Don’t just use machines and stay indoors. Variety will keep your movement choices fresh.

Combining menopause hrt therapy with herbs?

herbs for menopause
by urtica

Question by kuddlemees: Combining menopause hrt therapy with herbs?
Is it safe to combine hrt(estrace and progeston) prescribed by my doctor with an over the counter combination vitamin with menopause herbs that contain black kohosh and red clover. I have been on the hrt therapy with my MD for approx 2 weeks with very little change in my symptoms and thought I would ad this vitaman/herb combo with it.
I have researched the internet and am getting conflicting answers. Some say ok and others say no way.
Has anyone every done this or know if it is safe?

Best answer:

Answer by Joseph
I think you need to give more time for the hormone therapy to be effective. You won’t find a definite answer as you saw when you searched and the reason is that very little research has been done to find out how herbs affect the drugs one takes. They know now the St.John’s Wart is dangerous, they know of other herbs that might prevent the medication one takes to be effective, so I advise you to wait awhile. Let the HRT therapy first work for you, I would advise you to wait even a few month, maybe go back to your doctor and complain that the HRT does not work (but after you waited as I said) and see what he or she have to say. Don’t mix anything you are not sure about.

Herbs-Good For Menopause?

Herbal supplements are safer with far fewer side effects and just as effective. There are many herbs that might benefit your menopausal symptoms but we will only go over just a few of the most used herbs and how they work. How to choose the supplement with the highest quality is important for you to understand.

Herbs for Menopause

Black Cohosh works by decreasing the luteinizing hormone that is largely responsible for many of your menopausal symptoms. Its effectiveness then is from its ability to reduce the levels of this hormone. If this hormone increases, you will experience the typical symptoms such as hot flashes.

Red Clover extract is not as well known as Black Cohosh. It works because it contains isoflavones (substances similar to estrogen). The effects of red clover extract tend to differ according to the stage of menopause you might be experiencing.

It is believed that the isoflavones act as weak estrogens.

Chasteberry is very popular in Europe because it contains both estrogen and progesterone-like compounds. This makes it popular for treating menopausal symptoms.
It is possible that this herb helps reduce the luteinizing hormone as does Black Cohosh.

Dong Quai has been around for centuries. It is not known if it is as effective as Black Cohosh. Dong Quai is used in the Native American cultures. It is also thought to have mild estrogenic effects.

Wild yam is supposed to be effective as estrogen replacement therapy. According to some studies that have been done on wild yam, it may help post-menopausal vaginal dryness. Wild yam may also be beneficial in treating premenstrual symptoms.

Choosing a High Quality Supplement

High quality supplements will use standardized herbal extracts. This helps to assure you that you will get the same dose from capsule to capsule and bottle to bottle. The most active ingredients are also found in standardized herbal extracts.

They are manufactured according to pharmaceutical grade standards. The ingredients are put through a lot of testing to determine each one’s metabolic path at the molecular level.
The interaction of the ingredients is examined making sure that they are compatible and will benefit you.

Conclusion

Herbal supplements are safer, purer, and have nothing artificial in them. The ingredients are tested rigorously and they use only standardized herbal extracts. This helps to guarantee you that you will get quality dosage from capsule to capsule. Before use consult your doctor as some herbs may affect the prescription drugs you might be taking.
